Getting to work on this wedding was incredibly meaningful to me. Event planner Jessica Jenelle reached out to me about jumping on this last minute rescheduled ceremony. Erica and Antonio had everything planned for getting married in Puerto Rico--their venue and vendors all paid for, when Hurricane Maria came and ruined those plans. This couple had lost everything for their big day, and had to start from the beginning...
Heather Benge, owner and director of Styled Shoots Across America, had originally reached out to Jessica about taking over this wedding. I deeply admire Jessica's beautiful heart and incredible work ethic. She was able to pull together a new team of vendors and get Erica and Antonio married in the beautiful Californian wine country.
It was so humbling to play a part in bringing together this beautiful couple's wedding day. Erica was so much fun and so kind to work with. I got to calligraphy by hand three different sets for their day: the vow book, menus, and placement cards.
Erica and Antonio's vows were done in both English and Spanish. It was so much fun getting to write them out in both languages. I still get teary eyed every time I get to write out two people's lifelong covenant to each other. It's just absolutely beautiful and so humbling.
The love and joy shared by this couple and their family and friends totally made up for any heartbreak and loss in losing their Puerto Rican wedding. Erica and Antonio proved that the most important thing is loving each other and being surrounded by the people you love.
